Connection #1

From the chapters that were assigned, I was able to make some connections. For my first connection, I could connect to "he couldn't stop making funny remarks to save his life." This was a text to self connection because I believe that I am similar. In the text, Ponyboy says that "you couldn't shut up that guy" and teachers and friends from my last school had told me this during past years. This character and I are alike in this way because we both like to get our two words in. Connecting to this helped me relate to what kind of character this was and how he might act in the next chapters. Therefore, this connection helped me predict this characters action in the next chapters.

Connection#2
This connection is a text to media connection because I have heard watched tv shows showing characters with cuts and bruises on them for dramatic effect. In the text it says, "nice-lookin bruise you got there... Nice cut too," which might make a reader imagine how this character would look at this point in the story line. A few years ago, I used to watch a tv series called Arrow, in almost every episode there was fighting and almost every episode that there was fighting there was also injuries. This relates to the text because in the text, the character suffered violence and from violence came injuries. This connection helped me visualize the character at this point during the story.
Connection#3
In the text, there are two main groups/gangs. I am making a text to world connection because around the world there are different groups/gangs just like in the story and sometimes don't get along just like the greasers and the socs in the story. Last year when I was in Toronto, at a mall, there was an argument between two people from different gangs that couldn't come to an agreement. One of the people pulled out a gun and shot 3 times in the air before shooting a fourth time at the other person. This relates to the text because the two groups in the story might have an arguement and not be capable of solving it. This helps me predict what might happen with these two groups if they come to a disagreement later on in the story.
