1. "You get hardened in jail. I don't want that to happen to you. Like it happened to me..." (Page 90)
I think what Dally meant when he said this was, that Ponyboy said Dally is known to be the meanest in the gang, the complete opposite of Johnny and Ponyboy. Probably because he went to jail one to many times, and he doesn't want them to turn out like he did.
2. "I wouldn't have. I would have let those kids burn to death." (Page 115)
When Randy said this, I think he was trying to tell Ponyboy that he isn't as brave, or as selfless as him, and Johnny because if he was in that situation he wouldn't have risked his life on saving them and would of just left the children to die.
3. That way you could tell the other guy was human to. (Page 118)
I think that this statement meant that The Socs may seem un-humane and cruel. But when Randy said that he didn't want to fight, that made Ponyboy realize that The Socs are people to. And even though a part of them hates the greasers, another part of them is just as scared as they are.
4. "You can see it good from the East Side, too," (Page 130)
I think what Ponyboy meant by this was that even thought him and cherry and from two different worlds, they still can share and admire the same sunset with it being just as good on the east side, as it is on the south.
