Passage picker-Lauryn

Passage picker

P.26, second paragraph
'' You take up for your buddies, no matter what they do. When your a gang, you stick up for them, stay together, like brothers, it's not a gang. It's a pack.''

Yes this book is based on gangs, guns, fights but that doesn't mean they don't care and love for one another, they just tend to show it in a different way. I think this passage explains just that and how even a soc who doesn't like them can even realize that they think of one another as family and behind the toughness there is love.

P.8, last sentence
'' Soda merely cocked one eyebrow, a trick he'd picked up from two-bit. '' It seems to run in this family.''

This passage, I find explains the character of  Soda and the way the writer tried to portray the character. Soda's character is very playful, yet emotional and caring sometimes for his gang, especially for his younger brother Ponyboy.

P.11, last paragraph
'' Johnny Cade was last and least. If you can picture a little dark puppy that has been kicked too many times and is lost in a crowd of strangers, you'll find Johnny.''

This passage really made me realize that you can't judge a person by what's on the outside because you don't know there story. In the book Johnny had been through a lot in the past year, getting beat up by the socs made him feel useless and powerless. Hearing what happened made me feel sorry and hope that no one as to go through that.
