Connector- lauryn

Text to self- The book The Outsiders I find is about family and friends sticking up for one another. This reminds me of how I would do anything for my friends and that family only wants what's best for you. In the story Johnny and Ponyboy jump inside a burning building to save the lives of children they didn't even know. This connection helps me realize that no matter who you are or where you came from we can all have are superhero moments.

Text to media- After reading 3/4 of the book The Outsiders, it reminds me of the movie Grease and how there's gender groups like the Pink lady's and the Blue Birds and how Sandy had to change her appearance to be with Danny. This really makes me understand that back then and even now, different classes of living and genders are treated unfairly.

Text to world- In the Outsiders book there's going to be a rumble between the Socs and the Greasers. The connection I made to this is when the shooting at the new outlet happened between the two gangs during the holidays. I now understand that maybe fictional and real life aren't so different after all, and how violent we actually are.

Text to self- The Outsiders is based on a 60's timeline. The connection I made this part of the book is that both of my parents were born in the late 60's, and how i've always wanted to see what it would be like to live back then. When i was little my parents told me stories that they're parents told them. By making this connection I now better understand the way living in the 60's actually was.
