The Outsiders Connections Chapters 3-6 by Paris Tack

               Chapter  3-6


Connection 1, Text-to-self:
From the chapters we had read this week, I could make a few connections.
The First Connection I chose is about what Cherry said “I can’t stand fights...I can’t stand them…” I chose this as a Text-to-self connection, because I think the same way as cherry does. Fights are terrible no matter how you look at it,most of the time someone gets hurt. Thats why i can understand Cherry,she doesn’t want anyone to get hurt for nothing.The impression I got from cherry is that she likes the adventures and dangerous side of the greasers,but she still cares about her reputation as a nice girl.I am sort of the same I would like to go on lots of adventures,be in a gang,find interesting secrets and do lots of really stupid stuff like the greasers do,but I don't like fights,stealing or breaking laws . Sure it sounds very interesting, but it would not be something I would enjoy,always being scared of the socs,acting tough,hide from the police and always be looked at like you're something bad. Connecting to the character Cherry helped me understand her a bit more and what she might do in the next chapters. It helped me predict Cherrys actions in the next Chapters.

Connection 2, Text-to-media
In Chapter 3 Ponyboy said he was dreaming of bringing his parents back alive. I chose this as a text-to-media connection, because it reminds me of the movie Harry Potter. In the first movie Harry finds a room and in that room is a mirror,the mirror represents the biggest wishes of the person who looks into it. When Harry looks into the mirror he sees his dead parents and wishes for them to be back alive. Thats helped me visualize how Ponyboy is feeling.

Connection 3, Text-to-world:

In the story Ponyboy and Johnny ran away to a church and when Dally went  to visit them, he said : “ You two want to go get something to eat first? I skipped breakfast and I’m about starved”.
I chose this as a Text-to-world connection because, in the news there is always something about starving kids,all over the world. I once read that, If the wider build people would all slim down,exercise,eat healthy and not as much there would be enough food for everyone . Thats why i thought that it would make a good connection. This helped me visualize how hungry dally was.
